The Women Media Arts and Film Festival of Sydney (New South Wales, Australia) had nominated three shorts directed by women to take parte in its third edition. They are Oblivion Street (La calle del olvido) by Lucía Castellano, Don't Leave Me (No me quites) by Laura Jou, and Yellow Cab 267. A Musical Hell (Yellow Cab 267. Two days is the time that the 3rd Women Media Arts and Film Festival has allocated to the screenings in Sydney (New South Wales, Australia) of the films they have selected. Three of the nominees for the current edition are the shorts Oblivion Street (La calle del olvido), directed by Lucía Castellano, Don't Leave Me (No me quites), directed by Laura Jou, and Yellow Cab 267. A Musical Hell (Yellow Cab 267. Un infierno musical), directed by Patricia Venti.
The screenings of the edition of the current year 2016 has been scheduled today, Saturday 1st October, and tomorrow, Sunday 2nd. The festival, which celebrates the films made by women filmmakers all around the planet, will take place at the Newington Armory of Sydney. The Newington Armory is a former armament depot of the Royal Australian Navy. It was refitted for civilian uses on the occasion of the 2000 Olympic Games. The sessions of the WMAFF 2016 will be mainly carried out at the Building 20 and the Building 22 of this compound.
The third edition of the Women Media Arts and Film Festival of Sydney consist of 51 films, according to our own calculations, chosen from over 500 works submitted to this year's call. There are 11 full-length films and 40 short films coming from 29 countries.
The forty nominated short films are distributed in 29 fictions, 4 documentaries, 3 animations, and 4 experimental shorts. These films have been produced in countries such as Spain (having 12 selections, the country most shorts has sent to the selection), Russia (6), Australia (5), Canada (3), USA (4), Lebanon (2), Greece (1), Israel (1), Kenya (1), United Kingdom (1), Switzerland (1), Taiwan (1), Uzbekistan (1), France (one co-production), and South Korea (one co-production).

The animations preferred by the organizers of this film contest are My Grandfather Was A Cherry Tree by Olga Poliektova & Tatiana Poliektova (Russia), The Right Place by Fernando Franco & Begoña Arostegui (Spain), and This Migrant Business by Ng’endo Mukii (Kenya). The selection is completed with the experimental shorts Irma by Beatriu Vallès Jimeno (Spain), No Body by Aya Ben Ron (Israel), The Perfect World by Hristina Belousova (Uzbekistan), and The Story of the Little Girl Who Loved Butterflies by Paula du Gelly (USA).
