The Concurso Corto-Joven Ciudad de Toledo (Toledo, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain) is turning on machines today while the shorts Ashen (Cenizo) by Jon Mikel Caballero, and One Step Ahead by Caque & Juan Trueba have joined the competition for the Toletvm Award of this festival.
Ashen (Cenizo), the short directed by Jon Mikel Caballero, and One Step Ahead, the story co-directed by Caque & Juan Trueba brothers, are joining the Official Competition of the IX Concurso Corto-Joven Ciudad de Toledo (Toledo, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain) today, Wednesday 21st September.
The historic city of Toledo, capital of the Spanish Autonomous Community of Castilla-La Mancha, is hosting the ninth edition of this film contest for young filmmakers on 21st, 22nd, and 23rd September. If our calculations are correct, 34 works are part of the selections of films that can be watched during the three days of this year's Concurso Corto-Joven Ciudad de Toledo.
The shorts Ashen by Jon Mikel Caballero and One Step Ahead by Caque & Juan Trueba have been included in this selection too. In deed, the two shorts have been selected for competing for the Premio Toletvm al Mejor Cortometraje Nacional (Toletvm Best Spanish Short Film Award) of the IX Concurso Corto-Joven Ciudad de Toledo, the highest award of this event.
The competition for the Toletvm Award of the year 2016 is hard-fought race. Including Ashen and One Step Ahead, fifteen shorts are fighting for the next Toletvm Award. They are: Dead Flowers by Pablo Riquelme & Stephen R., Fishura by Yago Mateo Velasco, La condena by Marc Nadal Manzanares, Cacería 3553 by Luis Ortí, You're Gonna Die Tonight by Sergio Morcillo, Abatido by Ariadna Monleón, Dinosaurios by Daniel Allué, Encuentros en la tercera edad by Víctor Ruiz Junquera, La mujer de la mancha by Ana Loig, One Step Ahead by Caque & Juan Trueba, Ashen by Jon Mikel Caballero, Behind by Ángel Gómez Hernández, Quimera by Pedro Barjacob & David Barjacob, Molar Manuel by Guillermo Guerrero, and No me llames más, por favor by María Paredes Ruz.
According the scheduled of the current ninth edition, both Ashen by Jon Mikel Caballero are One Step Ahead by Trueba brothers, are going to be screened in Toledo just tomorrow, Thursday 22nd September. This pair of shorts are going to be shown from 20:00 hours at the Matadero Lab, the venue where most screenings and activities of the Corto-Joven de Toledo are taking place.

The IX Concurso Corto-Joven de Toledo is also presenting two more competitions: the Premio Creative al Mejor Cortometraje Regional (Creative Best Regional Short Film Award) and the Premio Zoco al Mejor Cortometraje de Toledo (Zoco Best Short Film From Toledo Award —the Zoco is an internationally well-known square in the historic down town of Toledo.
Five regional shorts from Castilla-La Mancha have been chosen for contesting for this year's Creative Best Regional Short Film Award: Producción propia by Antonio Picazo, No queda nada by Manuel Ángel González Berruga, Stalingrado by Anyora Sánchez, El canto de la reina by Inés Espinosa López, and Culpables by Patricia Berot.
As for the local productions in the competition, La cola by Adrián Gallardo Gómez, Piedra, papel, tijera by Héctor Sanfer, De vuelta by Gabriel Dorado, Sueño lucido by Adrián Gallardo Gómez, La otra cara by David Jiménez Selas, Loff by Enrique Muñoz López, Para Claudia: los esquimales by Enrique Muñoz López, Segundito by Roberto Valle Casas, In Memory by Raquel González Canes, Inmarcesible by Adrián Jarque & Aitor Martín-Aragón, Money by Daniel Rodríguez Malo, Rutina by Daniel Rodríguez Malo, Rutina by Juan Calvo, and Herencias by Álvaro González Sanz are the fourteen candidates to the Zoco Award that will go to the best short film made in Toledo.
The Corto-Joven de Toledo 2016 will end on Friday 23rd September. No screenings of competing shorts will be held during this last day of festival. Nonetheless, they have scheduled the Closing Gala and the Awards Ceremony of the current edition on Friday 23rd from 20:00 hours.
