Gorka León was born in Vitoria-Gasteiz (Basque Country) in 1982. He studied Media Communication at the University of Basque Country (UPV-EHU). Initially, he began to work in audiovisual filmmaking in Basque Country. Later, he moves to Madrid in 2004. He currently works for TV. Gorka León was born in Vitoria-Gasteiz (Basque Country) en 1982. He studied Media Communication at the University of Basque Country (UPV-EHU). During his college years, he already began to collaborate with the Vitoria-Gasteiz International Film Festival (Festival Internacional de Cine de Vitoria-Gasteiz), and with the Film Club Altube. He received his first lessons on camera handling, digital editing, and screenwriting at Film Club Altube. After graduating, he moved to Madrid to master in filmmaking at San Pablo-CEU University. In 2000, he filmed his first short film along with several college partners: Gaixotasuna ("Disease"). Later, he shot several short films as Iraganaren negarra ("Cry from past") and Gurutze; he also made some TV pilots. In 2004, he worked for EITB (Basque public TV and radio) in Vitoria-Gasteiz, his hometown. He worked as editor and broadcaster in sports section. Already in Madrid, he has worked for some digital media and has participated in the filming of several Spanish famous TV series such as Física o química, La chica de ayer, and so on. He has also continued writing and directing his own short films: Apariencias ("Appearances"), Dinero en Polvo ("Money Powder"), Terminar... Imposible ("Finishing ... Impossible"), Pensamientos Equivocados ("Wrong Ideas"), and Summer Love. |
