The short film directed by Lucía del Río, Lightness (Levedad), has been nominated for the Grand Off World Independent Films Awards which are held in Warsaw (Poland).

Lightness (Levedad), the latest short film directed by Lucía del Río, has been selected for competing at the Grand Off World Independent Films Awards. This festival is taking place in the capital of Poland, Warsaw, from November 22th to 29th, 2010.

The 2010 Grand Off World Independent Films Awards have selected 52 shorts coming from 32 countries. The selection committee has received more than 900 films from 70 nations. The finalists are going to compete in nine categories.

Inside "Best Fiction" competition there are: Arena by João Salaviza, Efecto Dominó by Gabriel Gauchet, Deriva by Ángel Tirado, Guest by Roy Krispel, Hanoi-Warszawa by Katarzyna Klimkiewicz, and Sea of Desires by Shota Gamisonia.

Into "Best Directing" category the selected directors have been: Lars Pedersen Arendt for Beast, Roberto Anjari-Rossi for Das Wolfskind, Zahzah Abdenour for Garagouz, Ivan Ramljak and Marko Skobalj for Liberation in 26 Pictures, Adrian Panek for My Poor Head, and Antonio Piazza and Fabio Grassadonia for Rita.

For the "Best Script", the selection committee has chosen Gillaume Grosse for the screenplay of 8 et des poussières by Laurent Teyssier, Dimitrije Vojnov for E-Pigs by Petar Pašič, Amalio Rodríguez Chuliá for La ventaja del sicario by Luis Moreno Bernardo, Alina Abdullayeva and Nargiz Bagirzade for One Step by Fariz Ahmedov and Nargiz Bagirzade, Vincent Coen and Jean-Julien Collette for Tabu, and Brianne Nord-Stewart for Trolls.

Inside "Best Cinematography" the candidates are: Pedro Pires for Danse Macabre, Matthew Mendelson for Daughters by Chloé Zhao, Jerónimo Molero for La tama by Martín Costa, Mauro Vidal for Marina la esposa del pescador by Carlos Hernández, Gregory Bindschedler for The Mourning of the Merry Stork by Eileen Hofer-Boutros, and Andy Parsons for Things We Leave Behind by Andrew Brand.

The "Best Editing" Award could be for Stephan Talneau for A Bike Ride by Bernard Attal, Amanda James for Flak by Finn McGough, Conor Fitzpatrick for Glassjaw by Patrick Ryan, Theo Putzu for Memoria en papel, Leon Chambers for The Long Lonely Walk, and Michael Londsdale for Vostok Station by Dylan Pharazyn.

The Festival could also awarded Ursula Werner for Am Anderen Ende by Philipp Doering, Jennifer Christopher for Family Jewels by Martin Stitt, Violeta.T Melendez for Homecoming by Zune Kwok, Léa Seydoux for Petit tailleur by Louis Garrel and Carine Bouquillon for Martha by Raphaël Dethir as "Best Actress". The "Best Actor" could be won by: Ibrahim Al-Hasawi for Aayesh by Abdullah Al-Eyaf, Anthony Phelan for A Parachute Falling in Siberia by Ian Meadows, Adrian Titieni for Colivia by Adrian Sitaru, Ameer Ahmad Zhowandai for Heal by Mian Adnan Ahmad, Christian Lees for Jenny and the Worm by Ian Clark, and Bartosz Opania for The Scent of Flowers Does Not Blow Against the Wind by Leszek Korusiewicz.

The 2010 "Best Documentary" could be Capucine by Luis Nieto, Apuntes sobre el otro by Sergio Oksman, Shirpooshan by Narges Abyar, Otchłań by Wojciech Kasperski, or The Poodle Trainer by Vance Malone.

The "Best Animation" could rewarded Alma by Rodrigo Blaas, Les bessones del Carrer de Ponent by Marc Riba and Anna Solanas, Mrdrchain by Ondrej Svadlena, The Cow Who Wanted to Be a Hamburger by Bill Plympton, The Lighthouse by Velislava Gospodinova, or Zero by Christopher Kezelos.

For its part, Lightness by Lucía del Río will be presented inside the "Et Dieu Crea la Femme" category. This category is reserved to films that show women stories in a unseen manner.
