The Almería en Corto Festival (Almería in Shorts) has selected for its 2010 competition the fiction short film Lightness (Levedad) directed by Lucía del Río. It is going to compete at the Spanish Contest open only for shorts made in Spain. The short film Lightness (Levedad) by Lucía del Río has been selected for competing at the 9th Festival Internacional de Cortometrajes Almería en Corto (9th Almería in Shorts International Short Film Festival). The 2010 Almería en Corto is scheduled from December 6th to 11th, 2010, in the Spanish city of Almeria, south of the country. The Festival has received 551 films for its two competitions: the International Contest (Certamen Internacional) and the Spanish Contest (Certamen Nacional). 325 short films applied for International Contest while 226 did for Spanish Contest, according to festival board. This year, the Almería en Corto Festival will grant awards worth € 49,500. Thanks to these numbers, this festival is becoming one of the most prominent events for short filmmakers in Spain. Inside the International Contest, the Festival will announce the Best Short Film Award granted with € 14,000 and an Audience Award granted with € 5,700. It will also present the "Celicio Paniagua" Best Cinematography Award, the "Gil Parrondo" Best Screenplay Award, the Best Art Direction Award, and the Best Acting Award. Each one of these awards is granted with € 2,000. The Spanish Contest will present a First Prize granted with € 2,000, and a Second Prize with € 1,700. Additionally, the Andalusian Public TV channel (RTVA) will unveil the Best Andalusian Audiovisual Work Award with € 1,500, the Best Video from Almería with € 1,300, and the Best Screenplay with € 800. The Journalists Association of Almería will give a Best Acting Award for a short from Almería. Also, during the awards ceremony, the Jury will announce the Best Production Project Award, granted with € 13,000, for filming a short. Lightness by Lucía del Río competes inside the Spanish Contest. Among the 226 short films who apply for Almería en Corto, just 21 have been selected. Among them, Lightness. |
