| El Segundo Amanecer de la Ceguera Enters Uruguayan Festival |

The Berlinale 2010 has not yet closed and El segundo amanecer de la ceguera (The Second Awakening of Blindness) has already entered in a new festival: the Festival Cinematográfico Internacional de Uruguay (International Film Festival of Uruguay). Mauricio Franco has not yet returned from the Berlinale 2010 exhibitions and he has already had good news waiting for him: El segundo amanecer de la ceguera has entered in the official competition of the XXVIII Festival Cinematográfico Internacional de Uruguay. This festival will be between March 26th and April 3rd 2010 in the city of Montevideo. The contest features four competitive sections. El segundo amanecer de la ceguera aspires to the Best International Short Film and to the Best Latin American Short Film Awards. To date, the Festival Board has not unveiled the screening timetables for El segundo amanecer de la ceguera at Montevideo. The Festival Cinematográfico Internacional del Uruguay is held by the Cinemateca Uruguaya (Uruguayan Film Archive). This institution, founded in 1952, is a member of the international film archive network FIAF (Fédération Internationale des Archives du Film) from its inception. Every year the Cinemateca Uruguaya calls for the Festival Cinematográfico Internacional. Its aim is to promote the international film culture. Furthermore, the Festival has a section specifically devoted to Uruguayan short films. Thanks to this new entry, El segundo amanecer de la ceguera by Mauricio Franco continues its successfully international running. This short film has entered in festivals from Spain, Germany, and now Uruguay. |
