The short film El segundo amanecer de la ceguera (The Second Awakening of Blindness), directed by Mauricio Franco, has won the Busan International Short Film Festival (BISFF) of South Korea. El segundo amanecer de la ceguera (The Second Awakening of Blindness) has won the Excellence Award (BS Busan Bank Award) at the Busan International Short Film Festival, also known as BISFF, which has finished on May 16th 2010 in the South Korean city of Busan. El segundo amanecer de la ceguera (The Second Awakening of Blindness) was selected among 1,251 eligible films from 57 countries. At the Official Competition, El segundo amanecer de la ceguera contends along with 26 fiction short films for the awards that it has finally won. The rest of the awards has been granted to: Grand Prix (Dong-back Grand Award) for Little Inconvenience by Hélène Florent, Renault Samsung Motors Award for The Doppelganger by Stephanie Winter, Lotte Cinema Arte Award for Mom's Vacation by Kim Kwang Bok, Kyobo Life Award for Flat love by Andrés Sanz, Hankook Oriental Medicine Clinic Award for The Postcard by Stefan Le Lay, Parkland Award for All Change Please by Lena Liberta, KTX Cinema Award for Mei Ling by Stephanie Lansaque and François Leroy, Minsong Extreme Short Award for Heat Wave by Mirel Bran, Greencon Award and the Audience Award for Three-Way Intersection Video Shop by Kim Kyeong Yeon, Choi Mi Sun, and Seo Bu Kyoung, Fuji Film Award for Master Peace by Choi Won Jae, and Jury's Special Awards for Where are you going? by Seo Hyun Jung and for The Multitude Is Feverish by Vika Kirchenbauer. The Busan Festival starts 30 years ago. Nevertheless, this is the first contest open to international competition. Its promoters, the Motion Pictures Association of Korea and the Busan Film Commission, reward those filmmakers who are preparing for shooting their first feature films, such as Mauricio Franco. Misprint Amendment Because of a misprint in the web news provided by the Busan International Short Film Festival, we inform wrongly that the award won by Mauricio Franco's El segundo amanecer de la ceguera was the Renault Samsung Motors Award. It was indeed the BS Busan Bank Award. The same happens with the award granted to The Doppelganger by Stephanie Winter. The award won by this short film was not the BS Busan Bank Award, but the Renault Samsung Motors Award. |
