The short film El segundo amanecer de la ceguera (The Second Awakening of Blindness), directed by Mauricio Franco, and the documentary film I Want to Be a Gazelle (Quiero ser una gacela), directed by Ana Rodríguez Rosell and produced by Jana Films, have been nominated for the I've Seen Films International Festival held in Milan, Italy. A new nomination both for El segundo amanecer de la ceguera and for I Want to Be a Gazelle. Now, the selection committee of the I've Seen Films International Festival has chosen the short film by Mauricio Franco for its international competition. El segundo amanecer de la ceguera (The Second Awakening of Blindness) is eligible for the 20th Century Fox H. E. Best Short Film Award. For its part, I Want to Be a Gazelle (Quiero ser una gacela) will compete for the Best Documentary ICFilms Award. The I've Seen Films International Festival is going to take place in Milan, Italy, from September 30th to October 9th 2010. This is going to be the third edition of this contest, promoted by the well-known Dutch actor Rutger Hauer and financed by the Rutger Hauer Starfish Association, a charity devoted to fight against AIDS. Rutger Hauer founded this festival under the motto "each film is like a bird, all we need to do is make it fly." The I've Seen Films International Festival presents the prestigious ICFilms Awards in several categories: 20th Century Fox H. E. Best Film, 20th Century Fox H. E. Best Short Film, Best Fiction, Best First Work, Best Documentary, Best Experimental, Best Animation, Best Videoclip, Best Actor, Best Actress, Milan Municipality - Culture Art Award, and President of the Italian Republic Social Awareness Award. The Festival also has two Internet Contest Awards and grants a "Career Tribute" Award for a international prestigious film professional. El segundo amanecer de la ceguera (The Second Awakening of Blindness) has been written and directed by Mauricio Franco. This short film is about the end of love. El segundo amanecer de la ceguera began its international festival running with a nomination for the Berlinale 2010. Some weeks ago, it won an important award at the Busan International Short Film Festival (BISFF) in South Korea. It has been screened in many festivals in Spain, Chile, Peru, Germany, Uruguay, and so on. On the other hand, the documentary film directed by Ana Rodríguez Rosell and produced by Jana Films, I Want to Be a Gazelle (Quiero ser una gacela) has entered at the Official Competition of the I've Seen Films International Festival as well. I Want to Be a Gazelle shows us a special school in Senegal where the best girl students of this African country study. The government of Senegal is preparing those women to become the leaders of the country in the next years. These girls are the hope for Senegalese people to fight for becoming a developed nation. This film continues the series about Africa that filmmaker Ana Rodríguez Rosell began with the documentaries Espera Fati, Yo y mi terraza, and Una mujer para Ibu. |
