The short film The Second Awakening of Blindness (El segundo amanecer de la ceguera), directed by Mauricio Franco, has been nominated for the Alcine40, which is held in the town of Alcalá de Henares (Madrid, Spain).

The 40th edition of the Festival de Cine de Alcalá de Henares (Alcalá de Henares Film Festival), Alcine 40, has nominated the short film The Second Awakening of Blindness (El segundo amanecer de la ceguera) for its 2010 Official Competition. This contest, which takes places in the town of Alcalá de Henares (near Madrid, Spain), is scheduled between November 5th and 13th, 2010.

Alcine has been held for 40 years. As usual, the most relevant festival categories are going to be the National (Spanish) Competition and the European Competition. Moreover, ShortLatino, a market event for European and Latin American shorts, has been called for second year. The ShortLatino will take place from November 6th to 8th, 2010. Additionally, there is going to be a category for new filmmakers: Pantalla Abierta a los Nuevos Realizadores.

Till now, the festival organizers have not unveiled more information about the rest of nominees yet. Nor the screening dates for El segundo amanecer de la ceguera by Mauricio Franco are announced.

The Second Awakening of Blindness has entered at numerous international festivals: since February when it competed at Berlinale 2010 (Germany), El segundo amanecer de la ceguera has been at the Festival Cinematográfico Internacional de Uruguay, at the FilmFest Dresden (Germany), at the DIFF (Digital International Film Festival) of Chile, at the International Videofestival Bochum (Germany), at the I've Seen Films (Milan, Italy), at the Vladivostok International Film Festival "Pacific Meridian" (Russia), at the Festival de Cine de Madrid PNR (Spain), at the Lakino - Latin American Short Film Festival Berlin (Germany), at the Fescigu - Festival de Cine Solidario de Guadalajara (Spain), at the Festival Internacional de Cortometrajes "La Noche de los Cortos" of Lima (Peru), and at the Festival de Cortos Mediu Güeyu (Spain)

In addition, The Second Awakening of Blindness (El segundo amanecer de la ceguera) has won the Busan International Short Film Festival (BISFF) in South Korea, and the Premio Casa de América al Mejor Director Latinoamericano (Best Latin American Award) at the XI Concurso Iberoamericano de Cortometrajes Versión Española / SGAE for its director, Mauricio Franco.
