Islantilla Cinefórum Selects Three Films Promoted by [ The House of Films ]

The Islantilla Cinefórum Festival has selected three films promoted at festivals by [ The House of Films ]: I Want to Be a Gazelle (Quiero ser una gacela) by Ana Rodríguez Rosell, Adiós, muñeca (Goodbye, Doll) by Hugo Sanz, and Lightness (Levedad) by Lucía del Río.

The Islantilla Cinefórum Festival has announced its nominations today and the selection committee has chosen the documentary I Want to Be a Gazelle (Quiero ser una gacela) by Ana Rodríguez Rosell and the two short films Adiós, muñeca (Goodbye, Doll) by Hugo Sanz and Lightness (Levedad) by Lucía del Río for its Official Competition.

This year, the Islantilla Cinefórum has selected one hundred works from all around the world. This edition is scheduled from July 3rd till August 28th 2010. Therefore, this year's contest will become the longest short film festival in Spain. On each Tuesday and Thursday in July and August there will be a short film screening at Islantilla County, in Huelva, Spain. The audience will vote for the ten best works at competition. These ten finalists will contend for the Jury's Award, the Premio Luna de Islantilla, granted with €3,000.

I Want to Be a Gazelle (Quiero ser una gacela) is the latest documentary film produced by Jana Films. It is directed by Ana Rodríguez Rosell. This documentary talks about the Mariama Bâ School in Senegal. The best girl students from each corner of Senegal come every year to this school. Senegalese government and people hope that these students will become the leader of their country in the future.

On the other hand, Adiós, muñeca (Goodbye, Doll), directed by Hugo Sanz and produced by 29Letras, is a thriller full of twists and surprises: a car, which travels along desert, stops near a tumbling wall. A reckless girl gets out. Starring Sara Casasnovas, Daniel Albaladejo, and Alberto Ferreiro, Adiós, muñeca (Goodbye, Doll) is one of the best Spanish short film of the year. It has already won some awards and numerous nominations at worldwide festivals.

Finally, Lightness (Levedad) is a short directed by Lucía del Río which explores family relationships from a little girl's -called Sofía- point of view. With the aid of this work, Lucía del Río expects to consolidate her career as filmmaker, besides as actress. Lightness has already achieved several nominations for both Spanish and international film festivals.
